In the realities of modern warfare, the fighters of the Ukrainian army face challenges that military theorists did not even think about a decade ago. VR technology in the Dronobie simulator: how it works
We understood that traditional methods of training to shoot at aerial targets had critical limitations. The use of real ammunition creates security risks, requires significant resources, and does not allow identical scenarios to be repeatedly reproduced to analyze training progress. Our VR shooting simulator “Dronobie” eliminates these shortcomings by creating a controlled virtual environment for intense training.
The complex allows you to conduct thousands of training shots without any additional ammunition costs, while providing mathematically accurate simulation of ballistics and real combat conditions. We deeply analyzed the tactics of using drones by the enemy, studied their flight characteristics, sound signature and behavioral patterns to create the most realistic simulation possible.
What does a drone shooting simulation look like
When a fighter puts on VR goggles and picks up a specially designed, mass-sized model of a pump-action shotgun, he enters a virtual world that reproduces with scientific accuracy the conditions of a real collision. Our software constantly tracks every movement, analyzes the aiming trajectory and instantly calculates the probability of hitting the target.
The system takes into account not only the ballistic characteristics of different types of ammunition, but also numerous additional factors: wind speed and direction, lighting and the specifics of the behavior of various modifications of drones. FPV drones in our simulation show the same unpredictability as real counterparts — suddenly change trajectory, use natural obstacles to disguise, attack from different angles and heights.
Psychological training through virtual stress
We pay special attention to the psychological component of learning. The real battle is, of course, about technical accuracy, but it's also about the ability to stay calm under pressure, make critical decisions quickly, and act effectively under extreme stress. Our pump shooting simulator simulates just such psychological challenges.
We program different levels of stress load — from calm training in the open to intense fights.
How Dronobie adapts to the level of the shooter
The training system of our complex automatically adjusts to the individual level of training of each user, gradually complicating the task in accordance with the progress of skills. Beginners begin with basic exercises on static aerial targets, gradually moving on to complex multi-target scenarios with tight time and number of shots available.
Experienced shooters can train in extreme conditions: with poor visibility, under the influence of simulated electronic interference, etc. We have developed a sufficient number of unique training scenarios — from basic familiarization with the features of weapons to complex tactical tasks.
Technical perfection of modeling
Our system reproduces realistic ballistics for a wide range of munitions. The training program includes work with specialized anti-drone kits.
We have integrated realistic models of different types of FPV drones into the system — from light reconnaissance to heavy strike variants. Each type has unique characteristics of speed, maneuverability, size and vulnerable zones, which makes training as varied and practically useful as possible.
Advantages of Mobile VR Shooting Simulator
Unlike stationary shooting ranges and ranges, our portable VR simulator “Dronobie” can be quickly deployed in almost any conditions. The total weight of the kit does not exceed 10 kilograms, and the time to prepare the system for operation is less than 10 minutes, which is critical for operational deployment in the field.. Thanks to this, we can conduct effective training directly at the places of deployment of units, without distracting fighters from performing basic combat tasks.
Our mobile shooting training system is especially relevant for units of the Defense Forces and newly formed military formations that do not have constant access to full-fledged training centers. One of our complexes is able to provide high-quality training of the whole mouth, functioning in the mode of alternating individual training.
Performance characteristics and reliability
We built the system with military standards of reliability and endurance in mind. The complex provides continuous operation for a minimum of 4 hours, has an average working time of more than 2000 hours and operates in the temperature range from +2°C to +40°C. Relative humidity can range from 20% to 98% without affecting system performance.
We guarantee the designated service life of at least 3 years with a warranty service life of at least 12 months from the date of delivery.
Equipment and technical support
Our complex includes a high-quality pump shotgun layout with an integrated VR-system interaction device, modern Meta Quest 3 128GB virtual reality glasses, a tablet for displaying the learning process and all the necessary chargers. We provide the set with professional JBL headphones, a special BoboVR mount with a powerful battery and protective cases for transportation.
All equipment is packed in specialized moisture-proof cases, which guarantees the preservation of functionality even when transporting in difficult conditions. Each kit is accompanied by a detailed simulator passport and an operating manual.
